Away to Arusalem, part II

Damsel
Chapter 15

Cymen was now put up against horses faster than his own, and fighters smarter than he had ever before encountered. They did not hide up in trees, flicking down arrows. They came at him up front, with slice-blades blasting back the sunlight. The animals helped them in a way that his own animal, Chance never could. He hadn’t the words to put between them.

The desert air rushed and stung Cymen’s cheeks with sand. It stung the lower lids of his eyes, made him wince. After days of this, he found himself dressed as they in order to fight as well as they—he was being forced to learn so fast…

Delay today

Hello Everyone,

I'm a bit behind schedule and will try to get a new chapter of Damsel up tonight. But--I've still got something very cool for you to read.

Animals

I've realized that Randitty's second anniversary is coming up soon--I recall that I launched around Cinco de Mayo in 2010 and with a bilingual story about people cursed with losing their humanity if they didn't use it...

Away to Arusalem, part I

DAMSEL

Chapter Fourteen

Margarethe had Eve by the elbow again as they were rushing up the main aisle of the Chapel Over Chapels, to go before the altar of the King Over Kings, and the good-she-monk laughing very hard at the poor, dirty girl’s penance—trekking down to a dragon’s cave, and “Oh, Damascus will be pleased! So pleased to hear how this went. And, had you noticed how we’re back just in time for church to start this Seventh-day morning? Had you, Miss Evil? So that counts twice, as perhaps the best Seventh-day school lesson ever…”

Aisha: The Celestial War

Damsel will continue next week, April 18. In the meantime, enjoy a peek at one of my other unpublished novel manuscripts, Aisha: The Celestial War (This is mature fiction, and Not Safe For Work)...

Drum Beats One: For Princess Aisha

Prince Zyrcon exhaled soft and warm as he watched his riding instructor round the yard.  Her elephant, a matron named Shirik slowed from a frenzied gallop to a saunter when she thrust her hips forward and spoke the command.  Tun’rilly had an alluring air about her and a peculiar habit of thrusting her chest out and up when she spoke.  Perhaps she imagined herself a bull, raising the head and trunk in challenge so that people would ignore her body and listen to her self.

An evolution of a kind, necessary for a woman so distracting to make herself seem brusque.  King Balim had told his son once.  Immediately after, the King roughly reminded Zyrcon to stop staring at the woman.

“Did you see?  That is the way to execute a gallop.  The way you tried before could have hobbled Aisha before she even grew to mounting age.”

Mount.  That word made Zyrcon smirk.

“Eyes up here, boy.  If you weren’t the prince, I’d call you a pervert to your face.” Rider Tun’rilly tossed her head at Zyrcon and thrust her mango breasts at him again.

“I was watching.  The command is huptha, right?”
